Zasha Mauger Hillier

Speech and Language Therapist, Charing Cross Hospital

Zasha has been working as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the Acute Speech and Language Therapy Team at Charing Cross Hospital for the last 4 years.

Originally from Australia, she started her career in a remote position in rural Australia.  This is where her passion for quality improvement and education first began.  The pandemic has had a significant impact on the availability of training for all staff but particularly nurses.

The aim of her fellowship with NIHR NWL ARC is to develop a virtual training program for nursing staff to provide education regarding patients with swallowing difficulties (Dysphagia).  Dysphagia has been identified as one of the key priority improvement areas for the trust and Zasha hopes that the online training will improve the knowledge and skills of staff and ultimately improve the care of patients with Dysphagia.
